Gift from GrannyLin (or whatever she ends up going with)

A number of years ago, my Mom saw an article in a magazine about a mother who took a picture of her son in the same pair of adult-sized jeans and white button down shirt every year until he grew into the outfit. She saw it too late to do the same with me, but it's not too late for Jackson! She gave us an outfit so we can do the same - of course, there's a little different spin... (pic below)

Thanks Mom! Great idea.

Some of you may have heard, Jackson has quit drinking (beer) for the rest of the Notre Dame season. After the last game, he started throwing his toys around and cursing ND. I think he really did a lot of self-reflection over the last week and I doubt we'll see that behavior again. I think that shows a lot of maturity. Frankly, 3 weeks ago when he was half his age now, I'm not sure he was a big enough man to admit he was wrong. He was also very embarrassed that his image was all over this website with a beer in hand. He realizes that this digital age is very unforgiving - you can't let your guard down for a second. He wanted me to post this written apology to all his fans:

Touching indeed.

First Family Road Trip

Sorry for the delay, but we had our first road trip last weekend and the prospect of packing for this kept me preoccupied for about two weeks. Just kidding. . . but not really.

For those of you who know Dan O'Neal, he got married in Newport Beach last weekend. For those of you who don't, the best man at our wedding (and Cas's childhood friend) got married in Newport Beach last weekend. The pictures from the weekend will be here once I can get Kodak Gallery to work.

B.C. (see definition below), the trip south should have taken us about 6 hours. Instead it took us 8 to get there and about 8 1/2 to get back. We had to stop a few more times coming home because every time we would put Jackson in his car seat he would look at us and say, "I know you di'n't just put me in this $#!% car seat again." Oh yes, we did. Poor little guy.

He was soooooooooooooo good all weekend. Slept through the wedding. Slept through the reception. Slept through the nigh. . .oh wait, he didn't do that (at all), but that's our fault for letting him sleep through the wedding and the reception. He made us look good while we were out in public though and that's the important thing.

All in all, it was a successful first family vacation. Up next is my trip home to South Dakota in two weeks and I can't wait! I am a little nervous about flying by myself, mostly because I don't want to be "that lady" holding up the security line. My strategy will be to dress Jackson in something so cute that no one could possibly be upset with his lovely mother.

How do you get rid of the hiccups?

FEET

And a short pic set...here

Visiting colleges

We went to visit Cal Berkeley today. We've already filled out some pre school applications, so I think this is the logical next step.

First ND game and some other updates

First off, week 3 pics here.

On Saturday, Jack was introduced to a lifetime of ups and downs that come with the territory as an ND fan. Notre Dame had its worst home opener loss ever. Thankfully Jack slept through most of it and had no idea what was going on. Lucky him.

Before anyone calls Child Protective Services on us, just know that we only let him have 2 beers AND we took his keys. How dare you rush to judgment.
We had to put him in his bouncy chair to calm him down because he was so upset that our Offensive Line (appropriately named) couldn't pick up the delayed blitz. ALL. DAY. We lost 33-3 to Georgia Tech.
Last week, my co-workers threw us a little baby shower and it gave us a chance to show Jackson where Dad goes everyday. He made us look VERY good because he was so calm during his visit.
