Christmas #2 at Missy's

We've had lots of fun the last few days. Full picture set here.

Here are some highlights of the trip so far...

Jackson & some Rogers-es & some Aberles

Mike and Elizabeth visit Jota Pey

Our friends Mike and Elizabeth DeMicheleburn visited us for a night on their way to New Zealand for their honeymoon.

Here's a picture of Mike not looking that scared holding a baby

And a cool picture he sent from their first few days in New Zealand

Early Christmas in Los Altos

We're currently in South Dakota enjoying a white Christmas. Finally got around to posting these pictures from our early Christmas with the Schnellers/Watsons/Biocinis in Los Altos. Click HERE.

5- Month pics

Here is the latest round of pictures. We are headed to SD tomorrow morning, so I'm sure we'll have a ton to put up after we get back. Merry Christmas everyone!

Baby Yoga

Jackson must have been paying attention in my prenatal yoga classes. In the following photos, he demonstrates how to get into upward-facing dog (or more commonly known as the "I am on my tummy and I don't know how to roll on my back yet, so I'm just going to struggle until she picks me up" pose).

If you like what you see here, Jackson is available Mon-Fri to give private lessons for a small fee. Only serious inquiries please.

Jackson's Playgroup(ies)

For those who don't read my sister's blog, these are Jackson's neighborhood buddies. That's Rowan (two days older than J) in the middle and Henry (six weeks younger) on the right. I took a very nice photo of them the other day, and then found this doctored-up version circulating the internet a few days later. Weird.

P.S. As much as I would like to take credit, the photo was Uncle Chris's idea. And yes, I am using the smallest font possible to write this so that I look like the smart one.

Oh hey, hello there

Just wanted to remind everyone that I'm still here. My lack of posting has been partly due to getting busy at work, but mostly due to how good of a job Missy is doing. She has set the bar high lately and I naturally only want to post equally good material. You might be thinking, 'hmmm this post is pretty lame and doesn't even have pictures on it so it is NOT as good as Missy's posts'. If you are thinking that, please stop.

The 3 of us are excited to head to South Dakota Saturday. We're going to have a little mini-Christmas celebration on Friday night in San Francisco where the 3 of us will exchange gifts. (Let's hope Jackson did some of his own shopping or this will be pretty one-sided). I'm convinced that I got Jackson the coolest gift ever. That actually gives me an idea, maybe we will let the readers decide with a vote after all his gifts are revealed.

One last point before I sign off. I want to credit Augy and Kelly Rizo with the best nickname to date for Jackson Paul.

They call him "Jota Pe" (pronounced Hoda Pay). It is "J.P." in Spanish. I think it sounds pretty good.

We also learned recently that despite every possible effort we made to steer clear of 'names-that-can-easily-be-made-fun-of-in-grade-school', we may have failed. Some of you may know that my name rhymes with "Ass" and that certainly wasn't lost on 3rd graders at St. Nicholas. Well, my Mom heard a story about another Jack. He went to school his first day and there were two Jacks in the class. So Jack number 1 became "Jack S." (his last name starts with S, like ours). And of course he comes home day 1 from school and asks "what's a JackAss" (sounds like Jack S). Damn, can't win.

You better watch out, you better not cry

Ah yes, Christmas is here. It has alway been my favorite holiday, but something seems to have made it just a little more special this year. I wonder what that could be?

We are headed to South Dakota on Saturday and we can't wait. We haven't been back since our trip in early October, so I am really excited for everyone to see Jackson! He managed to roll from his tummy to his back on Saturday, but hasn't done it since, so I am assuming he is just saving his energy for his cousins.

Since we won't be in CA, we celebrated Christmas a little early down in Los Altos yesterday. We had such a good time. I think Jackson did too, because he slept pretty hard through the night last night and still took a nice long nap this morning. I joined him.

A Few Old Pictures

I just realized that I never sent the link out to these pictures. I took them a few weeks ago, over Thanksgiving. It looks like we might be needing a haircut soon (noooooooooooooo).

Jackson had his 4 month check-up yesterday. He weighs 15 lbs 3 oz, which is in the 60th percentile and, most importantly, he is 26 inches long, which is in the 85th-90th percentile! Can I get a shout-out to Cas's DNA??? YES! Shots included, we had a pretty good appointment. I think I cried harder than he did the first time he had the shots anyway. They should give treats or stickers to the moms too.

As for my last post about the sleeping. . . pretty sure that was a one night deal. I don't know if Jackson is teething or what, but his sleeping patterns have suuuuuuuuuuuuuucked lately. I knew it was too good to be true! Oh well, I guess that's why they come out cute.

Woo hoo!

Jackson fell asleep on his own tonight, in his crib. Somebody is growing up! Sorry for the short post- that's all I've got and I am sleepy. Here are some pics from his 16-17th weeks. Enjoy!

Reading is Fun

Here is a video of Jackson "reading". Please note that prior to this 10 seconds of video, he was actually trying to eat the book instead. Also, please ignore the very end where he almost falls out of the Bumbo. Thank you, The Managment.

It's Payback Time

For those of you who don't know, Jackson was a very good sleeper in the beginning. Up until a few weeks ago, we really didn't have very many of those "up every two hours" nights. I knew we were very well rested for new parents, but when I told people that, I would follow it up with "I'm sure we'll pay for it eventually". Well, times are a changin'. For the past week, the little turd has been waking up every 2-3 hours. The bad thing is that he's not crying when he wakes up (meaning that he's really still asleep), he is playing! I know I should be happy about this, because he is keeping himself busy, but once I hear him, I can't go back to sleep because I know that eventually he'll need me for something. It's pretty cute, I must say, but man do I need a nap!
